With the completion of the first phase, the interconnection of the Cyclades, which includes the islands of Paros, Antiparos, Naxos, Koufonissi, Schinoussa, Iraklia, Ios, Sikinos, Folegandros and Syros, was inaugurated. According to ADMIE data, it is estimated that this interconnection will alleviate consumer bills by EUR 80 million a year due to a reduction in Utilities (SGIs). The second phase includes the connections between Paros – Naxos and Naxos – Mykonos as well as the upgrading of the connection between Andros and N. Evia and is expected to be completed in early 2019. The third phase, so far, involves the laying of a second cable between Lavrion and Syros with an expected completion date in 2020. At the same time, the process of interconnection of many other islands in the Dodecanese and the Northeast Aegean is being considered.
